Windows 11: Connecting to Student Printers (Pcounter)
PURPOSE
You can connect to Truman network printers from a non-Truman owned computer, like a student personal computer system on campus, or you can also connect from an off-campus computer system. Below are the instruction for connecting your Windows 11 device to the student network printers.
STEPS – DRIVER INSTALLATION
- First, you will need the driver, which can be downloaded from the link below, and save it on your computer in a location where you can find it again. The download will need to be unzipped before you can install it.
- Download Driver here!
- Once you have the driver, you will need to install it. Open the Search icon next to the Start Menu, and type “Control Panel”, and press “Enter”.
- Once the “Control Panel” is open, look for, and click on, “View Devices and Printers”.
- In the “Devices and Printers” window, you should have a print queue called “Fax”. Single Left-click on it, and look for “Print server properties” in the tabs at the top of the window. Click on “Print server properties” once you have found it.
- Click on the “Drivers” tab at the top of the next window.
- Click on “Add” in the lower 1/3 left-side of the next window.
- Click “Next” at the Welcome screen.
- Select “X64” in the “Processor Selection” window, and click next.
- In the “Printer Driver Selection” window, click on “Have disk” in the bottom right-side of the window.
- Click “Browse” in the “Install from Disk” window, and browse to the location where you saved the driver in the first step. You will need to open the folder, and then click “Open” until you are back at the “Install from Disk” windows, and click “OK”.
- Next, select the driver listed as “HP Color LaserJet CP3525 PCL 6”, and click “Next”, and then “Finish” at the next window. The installation will run, and the driver will be listed when completed.
STEPS – MAP PRINT QUEUE
- Next, you will need to connect with the Pcounter MasterQueue print queue. To do that, open the “Search” icon, and type, “\\pcounter\masterqueue“. (You can also click on the link, and it will Press ‘Enter’.
- Enter your “truman\abc1234” (replace abc1234 with your username) and TruView password.
