Student Printing
Printing for Truman Students – Pcounter
Enrolled Truman students receive $5 each semester they are enrolled in from Information Technology Services (with a total of $15 if enrolled in Fall, Spring, and Summer classes). Each August, the amount is reset to start at $5. A student can add additional funds to their print account online here or at the McClain Cashier in MC105. Funds cannot be withdrawn from the account.
Printing charges:
- $.08 per page – B/W
- $.05 per page – B/W Duplex (Double-sided)
- $.45 per page – Color (No Duplex/Double-sided option)
Printing Instructions:
- PC/Windows – Open File Explorer, type the following in the Quick Access field (URL Field) ” \\pcounter\masterqueue ” without the quotation marks and accept the popup messages to install the device. Once the installation is complete, it will open the print queue (there may be print jobs listed from other users already in the print queue waiting to be printed), you will now be able to select Pcounter/Masterqueue in your print options.
- Mac – There is currently no option to have a Mac system print direct to the print queue. One option is to use Web Printing at https://eop.truman.edu (printing options are limited under this link: single-sided only, 1 copy per print, etc.) or to use a browser and go to the Virtual Desktop at https://view.truman.edu and open up the file to print within this environment. This will offer full printing options.
- Phone/Tablet – Currently this option is being replaced by a new company design and is not in fullĀ operation yet. Check back later for the new feature.
- Web Printing – as mentioned under MAC Printing – go to https://eop.truman.edu (this is limited on printing options)
Location of Student Printers:
- PL100 Lobby (There are 2 large B/W printers with an ID Scanner, 1 B/W printer with a laptop Release Station, 1 Color Laser Jet; only student color available)
- VH2001 (There is 1 large B/W printer equipped with both an ID Scanner and a laptop Release Station)
- Res Hall Main Desks (There will be one B/W printer with ID Scanner only option)
- There may be a classroom/lab printer available depending on your course study. This is very limited and only available to students assigned to the specific courses
How to use printers:
- Once the item has been printed to the Pcounter/Masterqueue, it will need to be released at a Truman Student Printer (NOTE: if you have printed multiple jobs including color, you will want to release/print the color print first and then print the other jobs at the B/W printer)
- To use a printer with a Prox ID scanner, swipe your Truman Banner ID card on the scanner and it should beep 1 time and release your print job(s). Note that all print jobs you had in the print queue will print. If there are items you do not want to print, go to a Print Release Station and you will see the list of print jobs that can be selected or deleted from your print queue.
- To use a printer with a laptop Release Station, log in to the kiosk screen asking for Username and Password. This should bring up a list of your print job(s). Select the job you want to print and click Print.
- For the PL Color Laser Jet
- Swipe your Truman ID and it will sign you in automatically and show your print job(s). Select the Color print job and click on Print.
- There will also be a laptop Release Station. Sign in with your Truman Username/Password and then select the color print job and click on Print
- The color printer is a single-sided printer and does not have a duplex option. For special printing needs, contact Truman Printing Services
Printing Issues (IT Service Center can assist with most if not all printing issues: 660-785-4544, PL203):
- ID Card not working
- Multiple beeps with a single swipe – there is an issue with the scanner and needs to be reported to the IT Service Center. Try another printer
- Single beep, but nothing is coming through the printer – either user does not have enough funds to print (add funds to the account), printer is turned off (turn printer on), or the ID Card code is not correct in the system (this is common if a user gets a new ID Card -can be fixed at the IT Service Center).
- ID Scanner has no light on it and does not beep – Scanner malfunction, report to the IT Service Center and try another printer
- ID scanner has red light, but no beeps when using your ID Card – the chip in the ID Card may be faulty. It can be verified by the IT Service Center or ID Office. The ID Office will replace faulty card for free if it was not damaged by the user (like punching a hole in it for a lanyard)
- Print jobs seen in the print queue but deleting from the print queue without it coming through printer. If the job being printed does not have enough funds to cover the print, it will delete it from the print queue. Add funds to the account here .
- Page size issues. The Student printers can only print 8.5 x 11 inches Letter size. If attempting to print any larger or smaller, it will fail. For non-standard print needs, contact Truman’s Printing Services
- Printer Jam – DO Not attempt to remove yourself, immediately report to the IT Service Center at 660-785-4544 or go to PL203. After hours, can stop at the Library Service Desk. Removing jams incorrectly can result in major damage to the printer.
