How do I know if I am using a Truman owned system
Typically if you purchased your system yourself it is not a Truman owned system. Truman owned systems are purchased and setup by the University.
Truman owned systems are also joined to the Truman Active Directory domain. You can check if your system is joined to the Truman domain by performing the following steps.
For Windows:
- Find the My Computer icon (By clicking the Start button or looking on the Desktop) and right-click it.
- Select Properties from the list.
-
Click the Computer Name tab.
- If you're using Windows 7, the computer name will appear in the bottom half of the window under the heading Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings
-
If you see a line below Full computer name: that reads Domain: truman.edu then you are on a Truman owned system.
- An example full computer name is: PL203003.truman.edu
For Macintosh:
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner.
- Select About this Mac.
- Select More Info…
-
If you are running Snow Leopard the computer name will be at the top of this window.
- However if you are running Lion select System Report and the computer name will be in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
Note: For most Truman owned Macintoshes on campus you will not see the .truman.edu extension on the computer name, but they will be of the form <Building Abbrev.><Office/Room Number><Device Index>. For example AB123001.
