Setting up BIOS on a Dell GX280
After imaging press F2 to enter BIOS.
Use the Down Arrow to highlight “Boot Sequence” and press enter.
Highlight every device other then “Onboard SATA Hard Drive” and press Space to deactivate it. When the device is deactivated the number that was to the left of the device will disappear. When you are done there should just be one number, “1.” To the left of “Onboard SATA Hard Drive.” Press ENTER to save your changes.
Use the Down Arrow to highlight “Security” and press enter.
Hit down once more and highlight “Admin Password” and press enter.
Enter the new bios password and hit enter, enter it again and press enter. (For the new password see Tim Mills, Chuck Parks or myself)
Use the Down Arrow to highlight “POST Behavior” and press enter.
Hit the down arrow three more times and highlight “POST Hotkeys” and hit enter.
Change this setting to “Setup” and hit enter.
Hit Esc now to exit, and select “Save/Exit” and hit Enter.
In the future when you want to modify BIOS settings, you can enter BIOS without a password but you must select “Security” and then “Unlock Setup” before you can make any changes.
