06/18/2004 | Beginning at 8 PM Friday evening as part of the weekly IT maintenance window Microsoft Exchange email services will be unavailable while maintenance is performed on the system. |
06/17/2004 | An Apache service failed to start following the 3:30am reboot of the Banner Web server this morning. It was started manually shortly after 8:00am. |
06/17/2004 | A key network wiring closet is being renovated as part of the summer network upgrade. This afternoon and tomorrow the closet will be without any air conditioning. If we experience unmanageable high temperatures in this closet we may have problems maintaining network service, including Internet service.
We will do everything possible to keep network and Internet services up during this period. |
06/15/2004 | There is a problem on the internet this morning that are causing some sites not to load. The problem is outside the Truman network. We have notified MoreNet, but the problem is outside of the MoreNet system as well. MoreNet reports that the problem should be resolved soon. Several high traffic sites are known to be involved including Dell.com, Apple.com, CNN.com MSN. com and Yahoo.com. |

05/25/2004 | After the PureMessage upgrade, users must request a new password to view their quarantine through the PureMessage End User Web Interface (http://puremessage.truman.edu). The password will be sent to the user in an email with a clickable link to access their quarantine. |
05/24/2004 | Since the PureMessage upgrade, the daily Quarantine digest emails have not been sent. However, users may view their quarantine through the PureMessage End User Web Interface (http://puremessage.truman.edu). We have an open ticket with PureMessage on this problem.
Update: Correction from PureMessage was applied and this feature is working properly now. |

05/21/2004 | Last night (Thurs. May 20) Banner Web services were unavailable for several hours beginning around 5:30pm due to a hung Apache process. Due to shortened service hours of academic labs and the library, there wasn't any mechanism in place for notification. We are looking into faster (automated) ways to communicate this problem to ITS staff when it occurs. The service was automatically stopped and restarted as part of the nightly reboot. Services were immediately available following the reboot as 3:15am. |
05/20/2004 | The Internet is bacl up. We have not been notified by MOREnet that repairs are complete but the Internet is currently working. The failure was beyond Truman. Our network was functional until we reached the MOREnet router then we lost all network connectivity. We had contacted MOREnet; they reported the state network had failed for the western half of the state and also in the Kansas City hub. |
05/20/2004 | A modem connection failed on the Truman dial-up system this morning. We have isolated and fixed the failing component. All dial-up modems are now back in service. |
05/20/2004 | Thursday evening, May 20th is the Truman IT maintenance window. During this time preventative maintenance and system upgrades are installed.
The following systems are scheduled for maintenance tonight at 6 PM. The memory in the email router will be increased. Email routing should be down for less than 15 minutes. Updates will be installed on the PureMessage anti-SPAM system. The system should be down for less than 30 minutes. The Exchange email server will be moved to a rack mount. The Exchange server should be down for less than 15 minutes. The general purpose server Krypton will be moved to a rack mount. |
