10/28/2004 | TruView was unavailable from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. on 10/27/04. The problem was the same as was experienced yesterday at the same time. A hotfix was installed on the system during the outage today, which should prevent future outages of this nature. |
10/27/2004 | Update - The systems responsible for the network attack have been identified and shut down. All Truman network services are back to normal. --------------- At ~ 9:30 PM Tuesday evening a large scale network attack was detected against resources on the Truman network. Some network resources have been intermittently unavailable due to the volume of the attack. We are investigating and taking steps to address this situation. |
10/27/2004 | There was a brief slowdown on TruView which required a restart of the system. The slowdown occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. and service was restored by about 5:20. The cause of the outage is unknown at this time, but IT Services staff and SunGard SCT support are investigating the problem. |
10/25/2004 | Several people were having problems logging onto the campus network this morning due to their network userids being locked out. This problem was caused by two computer systems attempting to compromise user accounts. The computer systems have been traced down and disconnected from the campus network. |
10/22/2004 | There was a network distruption late this afternoon. The issue caused multiple accounts to be locked out. The issue has been resolved and accounts re enabled. Contact the ITS Help Desk x4544 if you experience any log on access issues. Thank you |
10/15/2004 | During the weekly IT maintenance window on Friday evening the Truman VPN service will be down briefly at ~ 8 PM for system maintenance. The outage should last less than 10 minutes. |
10/14/2004 | The electrical outage in the Truman data center has been corrected. All IT services are back up. |
10/12/2004 | Network services have been restored in Fair Apartments. The network switches had been unplugged from the electrical outlet. |
10/12/2004 | Update: Problems with a device driver caused the server to not come back up correctly after a scheduled reboot this morning at 6:30 am (12 October 2004). A second reboot cleared the error and services were restored by 8:00am. -- Original Message: Web services hosted on Argon were unavailable for several hours early this morning due to a server problem. Services have now been restored. |

09/30/2004 | Due to a Truman system sending SPAM email Truman has been temporarily blacklisted by several external email monitors. This action may result in some emails that are sent to non-Truman addresses being returned. We are working on resolving the problem. |

09/21/2004 | Exchange email services were unavailable in the early AM hours this morning due to a problem with the Exchange system. Exchange services have been restored. |

09/16/2004 | During the 3rd Thursday IT maintenance window (this Thursday at 8 PM) software updates will be installed on the PureMessage anti-SPAM system. PureMessage services may be briefly unavailable during this process. |

09/07/2004 | Internet services are currently slower than normal due to a high volume of suspicious traffic from outside Truman. We are investigating and taking steps to maintain our Internet connection at the best performance level possible. |
09/07/2004 | The faculty / staff password reset that was scheduled for 7 AM this morning was delayed due to a system failure. The network passwords of for all faculty and staff were expired at ~ 8:30 this morning. Users may need to log off and log back on in order to change their network password and correctly access network resources. |

08/25/2004 | Truman Internet access to the web site http://underrun.net has been blocked due to malicious network activity. Several computer systems on campus have been adversely affected by network actions originating from this site. |
08/20/2004 | Friday morning all student network accounts will be changed to the Truman domain. The passwords of all student network accounts will be reset to SSN. All student network logons will now be from the Truman domain, not the Student domain. Student electronic printer accounting funds (PAS) will also be reset to $20 for the beginning of the fall 2004 semester. |
08/19/2004 | The following changes are planned for the scheduled IT maintenance window this Thursday evening.
At ~ 8 PM the campus email router will be taken down briefly for a system memory upgrade. At ~ 8:30 PM the personal web page server Xenon will be taken down for a network interface replacement. |
08/18/2004 | Campus Pipeline has been unavailable since approximately 9:15 a.m. The cause of the crash was a full hard drive. Complications from the crash are currently preventing the system from coming back up. IT Services is working with Campus Pipeline support to restore services.
UPDATE: Services were restored at 4:30 p.m., however, the system will be shut down for the power outage at 5:00 p.m. |
