Date Description
08/18/2005 As part of the monthly scheduled maintenance window, IT Services will be performing maintenance on the following servers tonight:
TruView
Titanium (Mac File Server)
Radon (streaming server/webcam server)

Titanium will be restarted shortly after 5. TruView and Radon will be restarted at approximately 10 p.m.

08/17/2005 In order to protect Truman-owned systems from current Internet threats, this afternoon, ITS will be forcing a Windows Security Update on computers which have not already installed a specific patch from Microsoft. Any computer that the patch installs upon will prompt the user to reboot after the installation is complete. Computers which already have the patch installed will experience no interruption in service.
08/18/2005 Due to increased computer security threats all high port TCP\IP traffic initiated from outside the Truman network has been blocked at the University firewall. If you experience any problems as a result of this change please report them to the ITS HelpDesk.
08/16/2005 The problem with secure POP access to the Microsoft Exchange system was corrected last night.
08/15/2005 Sunday morning Microsoft Exchange developed a problem with its virtual SMTP connector. Exchange services have now been restored.
08/15/2005 Monday evening at 5:30 PM Truman's email connection to the Internet will be upgraded. Email to and from the Internet will be unavailable during this time. Email services will be restored as soon as possible.
08/12/2005 Truview services have been restored. All Truview functions are working normally.
08/11/2005 The Macintosh file server, Titanium, is scheduled for upgrades beginning at 5:15 this evening, August 10. The server will be intermittently unavailable during the upgrade period, which is not expected to take more than an hour.

UPDATE: Upgrades have been completed on Titanium. Everything should be back to business as usual.

08/10/2005 TruView will be down for maintenance beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10. The maintenance is not expected to take more than an hour.

This upgrade is being down outside of iT Services' regularly scheduled maintenance windows so that the maintenance can be done well in advance of Truman Week.

08/05/2005 During the Friday evening scheduled information technology maintenance window we will be performing work on the Truman email systems. Some email services will be unavailable during this period. We will restore email services as soon as possible.
07/29/2005 Student Y drives were taken down at noon today to work on a file corruption problem. Student Y drives we back up shortly after 1 PM.
07/25/2005 TruView was shut down unexpectedly due to a power interruption. The servers are back up, but are being checked prior to startup of TruView.

UPDATE: All TruView services have been restored at 5:15 p.m.

07/25/2005 An electrical circuit has failed in the Truman data center. Some IT services are currently unavailable due to the failure. Some of the down services are: Systems Management Server (SMS), student organization web sites and Blackboard services. We are working with Physical Plant to restore IT services as soon as possible.
07/25/2005 The Truman data center is continuing to experience cooling problems. Physical Plant is working on the problem. All non-essential IT equipment in the data center is being shut down. The temperature is currently 85 degrees and rising. If the temperature exceeds 90 degrees production IT systems will also need to be shut down.
07/22/2005 UPDATE: Data has been restored to TS4. Uploading and downloading images can now be resumed.

At 7:30 AM today, TS4 experienced a hard drive failure. The drive has been replaced and data restore has started. Services effected: uploading and downloading images.

07/21/2005 Electrical power has been restored to the network equipment in Magruder Hall. All network services are back up.
07/19/2005 The Internet email work scheduled for early this morning (7 AM Tuesday) has been completed. All Truman email services are up.
07/12/2005 Technicians were working on multiple Windows 2003 and NT4 servers on Tuesday evening. These servers were rebooted during a window of 4pm-8pm causing what may have been brief interruptions in service for the servers involved.
07/08/2005 We were unable to map t: drives for a short time this afternoon. This capability has been restored now.
07/05/2005 Web services on Silver have been restored.
07/01/2005 On Thursday night the TS1 file server will be removed from service. TS1 has been replaced by newer file servers.
07/01/2005 On Thursday night the TP1 print server will be removed from service. TP1 has been replaced by a newer print server, Krypton. We have been working with campus groups and departments for almost a year on migrating network printing from TP1 to Krypton. If you have any trouble printing to network printers after TP1 is shut down on Thursday night please contact the ITS HelpDesk for assistance.
06/27/2005 There was a brief Internet outage for some computer systems this afternoon around 3:30 PM. The cause of the problem has been identified and corrected.
06/27/2005 All IT services (email and T: drives) are now back up. The problems have been identified and corrected.
06/24/2005 TruView will be restarted at 10:00 p.m. on 6/24/05. We have had stability problems with TruView since a recent upgrade to the software. Truman is one of a few schools in country running this version and the only school having this problem that we are aware of. We have been working with SunGard SCT to find the cause of the problem, which is difficult to do since we cannot recreate the problem on demand. We hope to have a fix in place, and will continue to do our best to keep the system running during this period. Tonight's restart will implement a few configuration changes that will hopefully give us more information regarding the cause of the problem.
