Date Description
03/19/2007 Approximately 65 telephone numbers are down in the Student Union Building due to a contractor cutting a telephone feed cable. We are working to restore full telephone services as soon as possible. We estimate full telephone service to the SUB will be restored by this evening.
03/23/2007 ITS is improving the way you handle regular password changes. ITAC policy states that you must change the password on your University account every 6 months for security. Previously, everyone was required to change their password on the same day, called "Password Tuesday," twice a year.

To make the process more convenient for you, ITS is eliminating Password Tuesday. Instead, we will send email reminders beginning 30 days before the date you must change your password. You may change it anytime at your convenience, and your new password will be good for another 6 months.

If you have any questions about password policy, please call the ITS
Help Desk at x4544.

03/15/2007 Friday evening is the regularly scheduled IT weekly maintenance window.

This Friday evening ITS will be performing maintenance on the Cisco Clean Access system. There may be brief network outages in the residence halls when the Clean Access servers are updated. We will keep any network outages as short as possible.

03/13/2007 The Clean Access problem affecting some residence hall network users has been resolved.
03/09/2007 Tonight, March 9th at 9:00PM, during the weekly scheduled maintenance window the campus network will be briefly unavailable while software updates are applied to the core network switches. Full network availability will be restored by 9:30PM.
03/08/2007 Network services have been restored in Brewer, Nason and Blanton buildings.
03/08/2007 Network services were unavailable overnight due to a scheduled electrical outage in the Student Union Building due to renovation. Network services in the SUB have now been restored.
03/08/2007 Cable Television services were unavailable overnight due to a scheduled electrical outage in the Student Union Building due to renovation. Cable Television services have now been restored.
03/06/2007 The Banner database server suffered a failure during the system maintenance late Monday morning. It has been determined that the server suffered a hardware failure (unrelated to the system maintenance) which required the system card to be replaced. IBM Hardware support drove in the part and made the necessary repairs and the Huber team completed their maintenance updates.

The Banner system and all Banner services have been restored and are available for use.

03/05/2007 During an operating system upgrade, IBM service reps on site have experienced a hardware problem that has made Banner systems currently unavailable. They are working on the problem now and we'll post updates as the situation changes.
02/28/2007 Electrical power appears to be back for West Campus Suites, Barnett Hall, Campbell Apartments and Delaney Baldwin. Network Services are backup and the KTTR / KBIA radio transmitter is coming back up too.
02/28/2007 Blackboard will be taken down at 8:30am on Monday, March 5, for system maintenance. It is expected to be back up by 11am on Monday.
02/26/2007 MOREnet appears to have resolved their state wide network outages. Our Internet is working and Pickler Library connection to Mobius is also back up.
02/26/2007 Following the scheduled upgrade on 2/23/2007, student email was not delivered between 10 p.m. on 2/23 and 2 p.m. 2/24. Any email sent during that time was "bounced" back to the sender. All mail should be routed correctly now.
02/23/2007 TruView and the Streaming Server will both be down for maintenance at about 10:00 p.m. on 2/23/2007. We will be installing operating system updates, including the ones necessary for the 2007 Daylight Savings Time changes. This maintenance is being done during the weekly scheduled maintenance window.
02/22/2007 In 2005, the United States government passed the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which changes the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in spring 2007.

This may impact your Outlook Calendar appointments between March 11 and April 1. Microsoft is furiously scrambling to patch its products to properly handle these changes. ITS currently has no assurances to how smoothly this will happen. There is a possibility your appointments in this time period will shift an hour from when you recorded them.

To protect your sanity in the face of potential disaster, we recommend you include the starting time in the subject line of all your Outlook appointments between Mar 11 and April 1. That way, in case there is a problem, it can be manually corrected with less hassle.

We are working with Microsoft and will share more news with you as we receive it. If you have any questions, please call the Help Desk at x4544.

02/17/2007 There was a problem with several Truman web services early Saturday morning. The problem was resolved and all Truman web pages are back up. We are investigating to determine the cause.
02/19/2007 Exchange server was successfully upgraded with patches. Services were restored shortly before 9:30 p.m.
02/18/2007 Exchange will be down for maintenance during the weekly scheduled maintenance window.
The weekly maintenance window allows ITS the right to take servers and network equipment down for maintenance or repair every Friday night from 9:00PM to Noon the following day.
02/09/2007 TruView will be down for maintenance at approximately 10:30 p.m. on 2/9/2007. This is during the weekly scheduled maintenance window.
02/02/2007 The brief loss of the Internet was caused by a problem with a MOREnet router in Kansas City. The router rebooted, temporarily disrupting Internet service for many sites.
01/31/2007 TruView is currently experiencing some issues which began at about 10:45. We hope to have everything back up soon.

UPDATE: TruView service was restored at 10:53. The cause of the problem is still being investigated.

01/26/2007 During the regularly scheduled maintenance window on 1/26/2007, the administrative web server may be unavailable for short periods beginning at 9:00 p.m. The main Truman website and many departmental and division website may be affected, as well as some content on the TruView portal.
01/28/2007 MOREnet will transfer its backbone to new high-capacity gigabit backbone links on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, beginning at midnight. The upgrade is expected to be complete by 2 a.m. Transferring each backbone segment should take no longer than 10 minutes. As the routing is moved, backup paths should maintain connectivity, but customers may experience short outages.
01/25/2007 Network services were briefly unavailable to a portion of Barnett Hall this morning due to electrical construction. Network services have been restored.
