11/12/2007 Between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, November 12, the TruView email server may be unavailable for a few brief periods.
A vendor from St. Louis will be onsite to replace a faulty part, so this maintenance must be done during the day and cannot be done during our regular maintenance window. We will try to keep the amount of downtime as low as possible.
All mail sent during this time will be delivered once the server is back up.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
11/08/2007 At ~ midnight last night the student print server experienced a memory error and printing services stopped. ITS was notified and a system restart cleared the error and printing services resumed. Diagnostics will scheduled to investigate the memory error.
11/06/2007 All services that were not available as a result of the power outages early this morning have been restored.

11/03/2007 The Exchange email server maintenance was successfully completed. Full service was restored at approximately 9:45 p.m.
11/05/2007 Last Fridays nights IT maintenance was on the Exchange email system. During the maintenance some Exchange services were unavailable. If you had problems sending email and had email returned please send it again.
10/31/2007 Network services have been restored in Barnett Hall. The problem was caused by an electrical problem which has been corrected.
10/23/2007 We need to perform maintenance on the network file server. The work is scheduled for 1:30 AM tonight. Network drives will be unavailable during this period. Network services will be restored as soon as possible.
10/30/2007 During the evening of Tuesday 10/30/2007 ITS will be activating the new Barracuda Spam firewall. This new device will replace the Sophos PureMessage product previously in place for spam filtering. This change will impact all email accounts at Truman.

10/17/2007 Full network services have been restored.
10/09/2007 The processing of email from the Internet was experiencing delays earlier this afternoon. We have identified and corrected the problem. Email is processing normally now.
10/02/2007 Network Services will be unavailable in Barnett Hall for the next several hours due to an major electrical service outage. When electrical service is restored to Barnett Hall then network services will also be available.
10/01/2007 We are currently experiencing slower than normal off-campus email processing. We are investigating and will restore normal service as soon as possible.
10/01/2007 Normal student network printing services have been restored.
09/28/2007 TruView email was unavailable for a short time due to a disk error on 9/27/2007. All services should be restored, but certain users may have problems with their mailboxes. If you are having problems, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@truman.edu or x4544 and we will get the issue resolved.
09/28/2007 Every Friday evening through Noon on Saturday is the ITS maintenance window. This Friday evening (9/28/2007) ITS will be performing software upgrades on the VPN equipment. While the maintenance is in progress VPN services will be unavailable. We estimate the maintenance will take one to four hours to complete.
09/21/2007 Our Internet connection is performing 15% slower than normal. We called MOREnet and we are working on resolving the problem as soon as possible.
09/18/2007 All TouchNet Services will be down from 8am - Noon on Wednesday, September 19 for an upgrade being performed by the vendor. Services that will be impacted include student bill payment (mybill.truman.edu) and the various university stores: University Press, Alumni Store, and Student Health Clinic store.
09/11/2007 The faculty / staff network printing system that failed this morning due to a hardware failure has been recovered. Normal faculty and staff printing services are now available.

Note: Users may need to reconnect to their print queue on Krypton and reselect their default printer.

08/22/2007 Email service has been restored. The disruption was due to a security patch installation. The server was rebooted and service was restored at approximately 7:43 p.m.
08/22/2007 A disruption of service with Exchange has been reported. The report is being investigated.
08/21/2007 The performance problem with the Clean Access system has been resolved.
08/20/2007 As a result of mandatory changes to the VPN server last week, online electronic resources that are restricted by source IP address were no longer available for VPN users. IE. The restricted library databases.

Many of the electronic resources are now available over the Truman VPN. We will continue to work through the lists, but we are making great progress.

Quickly looking over the magazine and journal articles at http://library.truman.edu/search_articles/electronic-journals.htm I see that many are from jstor.org. All of the jstor.org resources are working.

08/16/2007 The Online Help Desk ticket system, DK Web, was non functional due to failed services. All services have been restored and the Online ticket system is fully functional as of 6:00PM Aug 16.
08/13/2007 On Sunday, August 12, we will be updating the Banner student module to put into place coding consistent with the new academic structure. This update includes recoding all catalog courses, programs, recruit and applicant curriculums, student curriculums, and faculty home college and departments to the new college/school and department structure.

Many reports listing data by college, department, and major will not have to be changed since the data will continue to flow naturally in the new order. However, some reports handle specific college/department processing and these will need to be changed. Throughout this transition period, we are working to identify reports that need to be modified. If you are concerned about a specific report and whether or not it will continue to function correctly, please have your Division/Department office submit a request to have that report reviewed. 08/13/2007 Network W: Drive Changes for Academic Reorganization

August 9, 2007

Truman W: drives are a file storage area provided by a Truman file server that allows people in the same work group to store and share files. On Windows based computers a W: drive is automatically provided. Mac and Linux users may also use W: drives, but they have to manually connect.

Currently, academic W: drives are assigned to work groups based on Truman academic division. However, due to the Truman academic reorganization these academic divisions no longer exist. Network W: drive assignment (and their organizational structure) must be updated for the academic reorganization.

The weekend of August 11th new Banner codes will be activated for the academic reorganization. During this same weekend the network W: drives will be reorganized into a transitional structure. This transitional W: drive structure will allow everyone to continue to have access to all of the W: drive files they have today, but the change will also create new W: drives for the new colleges and departments. All files from the old division W: drives will be available to you during the transition period.

During the W: drive transition period all academic W: drives will be mapped to the respective College or School level. The old divisional W: drive data will be available to you as a sub folder of the College or School W: drive. The new department W: drive area will also be available to you as a sub folder. This will allow you to move data from the old divisional W: drive area to your new department W: drive area.

If any Deans or Department heads need additional security restrictions on any files or folders please contact ITS and we will work with you to address your needs. Please note, all requests for special security restrictions on W: drive folders need to be approved by the respective Dean or Department head.

The transition period for W: drives is scheduled for August 11th through January 6th 2008. During the W: drive transitional period you must move your W: drive data from the old division W: drive areas into the new college and department areas. On January 6th 2008 the old division W: drive areas will be removed.
