03/05/2014UPDATE: The root cause of this issue was traced back to a DDOS attack against a University system. MORENet blocked the attack at their core router. Normal service was restored at 3:43PM. ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE:The primary University Internet connection is running slowly as of 2:14PM. The problem is occurring outside the University network with MORENet, the University Internet Service Provider. MORENet technicians are currently looking into the issue on the state network but believe the root cause is a DDOS attack.
03/05/2014UPDATE: The repairs to the fiber optic line have been completed and full services have been restored to the affected buildings. PREVIOUS UPDATE: The fiber optic line providing service to these buildings is severed and will require extensive repair. Network, internet, and cable TV service to these buildings could be unavailable until the end of the business day on Thursday, March 6th. ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE: Network and internet services to Campbell Apartments, Baldwin Delaney, Stokes Stadium, and the Trades Building are unavailable. Cable TV service to Campbell Apartments is also unavailable. A utility vendor was digging in the area and fiber optic lines that provide service to these buildings may be damaged.
03/04/2014UPDATE: Normal mail delivery service has been restored. ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE: We are currently experiencing slow incoming e-mail from external sources. Technicians are looking into the issue.
03/04/2014UPDATE: The issue with the internet slowness was resolved at 2:50PM. The root cause of the issue was traced to a DDOS attack against the MORENet network. ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE: The primary University Internet connection is running slowly as of 11:55AM. The problem is occurring outside the University network with MORENet, the University Internet Service Provider. MORENet technicians are currently looking into the issue on the state network but believe the root cause is a DDOS attack.
03/02/2014The Banner system is scheduled for an upgrade this weekend. Banner and all Banner integrated, dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable starting at 4am Saturday morning, March 1st, and will remain down until the completion of the upgrade. Banner services were made available at approximately
02/28/2014UPDATE: Service was restored at 11:30am yesterday. UPDATE: Physical Plant electricians were unable to respond and restore power to this section of Barnett Hall. Network services will continue to be unavailable until power is restored. Wired network services in parts of Barnett Hall are down due to power related issues. This will mainly affect the middle section on 2nd floor. Service will be restored as soon as possible.

ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE: The primary University Internet connection is running slowly as of 10:10AM. The problem is occurring outside the University network with MORENet, the University Internet Service Provider. MORENet technicians are currently looking into the issue on the state network.
02/25/2014Banner Upgrade The Banner system is scheduled for an upgrade this weekend. Banner and all Banner integrated, dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable starting at 4am Saturday morning, March 1st, and will remain down until the completion of the upgrade. It is expected that the upgrade may take until Sunday evening, March 2nd. Note: Blackboard services will not be impacted by the Banner upgrade and will be available as usual.
02/22/2014The Central Authentication Service (CAS) server was unavailable from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on 1/22/2014.
02/19/2014Faculty/Staff e-mail was unavailable from 9:25PM to 9:35PM this afternoon due to a software fault.
02/19/2014DegreeWorks logging operation run out of space. This issue was resolved and services restored at approximately 9:00am. Measures have been put in place to prevent this from occurring.
02/16/2014DegreeWorks database process ran out of space at approximately 12:45pm. The space issue was resolved and services were restored at 2:24pm.
02/13/2014The main Truman web server will be restarted at about 9:30 p.m. on 2/13/2014. This restart is scheduled during our weekly maintenance window. The outage should only be a few minutes.
02/13/2014A code update will be pushed to the AV Stats Application. The update will bring the application inline with the current state of the framework it has been developed with. The page layout of the application's pages will significantly change. In addition, data retrieval performance has been improved.
02/13/2014A code update will be pushed to the Campus Visit Request Application. The update will not modify the function of the system. It provides an improved structure that will simplify the management of the code.
02/03/2014The maintenance work on the Banner forms server maintenance is complete. Banner forms services are now available.
02/03/2014Tonight at 10:00PM the Faculty/Staff email system will be unavailable for ten to fifteen minutes for emergency maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
01/31/2014Continues issues with Banner forms server and trying to get the test forms service in place cause the production forms to fail. Banner forms were unavailable from approximately 2:45pm until 4:30pm.
01/31/2014We restarted the Banner Forms server at 8:30am on Friday, January 31st, to complete some maintenance work for the Banner upgrade. Following the restart Banner Forms failed to start. We resolved the environmental variable issue that cause the failure and restored services by 9:30am.
01/28/2014Faculty/Staff e-mail was unavailable from 3:12PM to 3:18PM this afternoon due to a software fault.
01/31/2014We have received the following notice from MORENet, the primary internet service provider for the University: Bluebird Network technicians will be performing maintenance on Friday, January 31st between 12:01 and 5am. The University will experience 3-10 minute internet outages during this maintenance window. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.
01/25/2014A large number of IT systems and services were unavailable this afternoon from 3:15PM to 5:45PM due to equipment failure. As of 5:45PM all services are available with the exception of Blackboard.
01/25/2014Blackboard services are now available. Following the SAN failure there was an file system error and recovery required on the Blackboard application server. This has been successfully completed. ------------- Blackboard services are currently not available. They have been down since approximately 3:15pm following the storage system Blackboard and a number of other systems run on suffering a disk failure. Technicians resolved the storage system and are now currently working on restoring Blackboard services.
01/22/2014The University primary internet connection through MORENet was intermittently unavailable from 10:15AM to 11:15AM. The root cause of the outages was traced to Bluebird Communications, the fiber optic service provider for MORENet, who encountered several power outages in their Kirksville central office. These power outages have been reported as resolved and the University internet connection is fully functional and available.
01/20/2014A new file will be pushed to each Chumby and subsequently the Chumby will be rebooted. The new file will update the color of the shutdown button to red and set a maximum display time of two minutes on teh loading overlay (hourglass).
