All Truman WordPress sites will be updated at approximately 8:00 p.m. during tonight's maintenance window. Any downtime should be brief. This includes all personal and organization sites using WordPress, blogs.truman.edu, wp-internal.truman.edu, tmn.truman.edu, and www.truman.edu.

UPDATE: As of 1:30PM, full internet service has been restored. 

ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE:

One of the University's internet circuits is unavailable due to an emergency fiber repair. Estimated time to repair is 3:00PM this afternoon. 

Services and internet traffic will automatically route via a redundant circuit but overall connection speeds may be degraded in the interim.

Banner Admin Pages were unavailable morning. We were able to resolve the issues and get services restarted. All Banner services are now available.

Tonight at 9PM, the security certificates for the University faculty/staff email system, virtual private network and virtual desktop system will be updated. No outage is expected. 

You may be prompted to trust or accept the new cerficate when accessing email on a mobile device or desktop email application (Other then Microsoft Outlook).

In this particular case, it is safe to accept the new certificate as there is an official notification of a certifcate change. In other instances and without prior notification, security certificate prompts could indicate a potential attack or eavsedropping.

Banner maintenance is complete and servicers are now available.

Banner and all Banner dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable on Tuesday, May 19th, starting at 7:30am. We will be completing maintenance on the database server. This service note will be updated when the work is complete and services are restored.

Update: The Blackboard upgrade is complete and Blackboard is now available

The Blackboard Learn course management system is scheduled for upgrade on Tuesday, May 19th, with Blackboard services being unavailable beginning with the 4am backup. We will be installing a required security maintenance upgrade. As always, we will do our best to minimize the downtime of this critical system. For planning purposes, please plan for Blackboard to be unavailable for the morning.

A Service Note will be posted when Blackboard is available for use.

Note: This upgrade does not impact Banner.

Network services in Ryle Hall are partially unavailable following a power failure over the weekend.

At approximately 8:15 am this morning, it was reported to ITS that the FAC/STAFF printers were not working.  ITS identified the issue, and service was restored at 8:50 am.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.

Update:  In the interest of easy, efficient access during this last week of classes, we have switched the new password/authentication required option back to OFF for shared Zoom cloud recordings.  Zoom did enact the password requirement on Sunday in order to improve security and to disable the ability for people to "browse" all recordings.  If you do have recordings you prefer not to be public you may set them to Private, Password Required, or you may remove them from the Zoom cloud.

We believe that Zoom has made some global security changes late last week which did effectively increase security, but which may have made your recordings inaccessible to your students.  We are investigating these changes now.  A work-around/solution appears to be to go to your recording management page at https://zoom.us and click to make your recordings public.

Update: This was an issue on the Google side of the connection. Truman services have been restored and queued mail has been delivered.

Google provided the following info:

10:58 am - The problem with Gmail should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.

10:37 am - Gmail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but may experience delays in sending or receiving messages.

10:04 am - Google was investigating reports of an issue with Gmail.

 

Incoming email directed to Truman student gmail accounts is not being delivered. The mail is being queued on the local mail server and will be delivered once the connection to Google is fixed.

A support ticket has been entered with Google.

On Thursday, March 26th, at 10:00PM the University primary file server (hydrogen) will be unavailable for maintenance. Full service should be restored by 10:30PM. Thank you.

During tonight’s maintenance window (at approximately 8:00pm), web server for all WordPress networks except for www.truman.edu will be updated.

During tonight’s maintenance window (at approximately 9:00pm), web servers for all WordPress networks will be updated including Truman's main website. There shouldn’t be much downtime.

This morning websites hosted on or redirected through the University main IIS server encountered issues. The cause has been identified and resolved. Users still encountering an issue may want to try clearing their browser cache or rebooting their pc.”

Banner upgrade is complete. Banner and all Banner related services are available.

Banner Upgrade

The Banner system is scheduled for a major upgrade this Sunday, March 1st.  Banner and all Banner integrated, dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable starting at 4am Sunday morning, March 1st, and will remain down until the completion of the upgrade. Please plan for Banner services to be unavailable all day.  

 A Service Note will be sent out when the Banner system is available following completion of the upgrade.

Note: Blackboard services will not be impacted by the Banner upgrade and will be available as usual.

We currently have a number of wireless access points down in Ophelia Parrish and are working to restore services in that building.

Due to a space issue, the Banner database had disrupted service between approximately 6:40pm to 10:30pm last night. We have resolved the issue. We will work with areas this morning that have routine jobs that didn't complete successfully.

We're currently working with the provider to get replacement equipment.

We'll be performing software upgrades on the network equipment in Magruder and Violette Hall beginning at 3:20am on 1/24/20. All upgrades should be complete by 5:00am.

We are currently experiencing intermittent phone issues on campus. Our phone provider is having network problems and are actively troubleshooting the issue. An update will be posted once the problem is resolved.
