***Update*** The upgrade was completed successfuly at 3:39 am. 

We'll be performing a software upgrade on one of the switch stacks in Magruder Hall at 3:25am on 1/17/20. The software upgrade should take around 15 minutes to complete.

The Blackboard upgrade is complete and Blackboard services are available.

Blackboard Upgrade:

We have rescheduled the Blackboard Learn course management system upgrade for Monday, January 6th beginning at 4am with the normal shutdown for backups.  This update includes several primary core infrastructure upgrades including migration to new servers and upgrading the database. Campus should plan for the Blackboard system to be unavailable for the whole day. The migration of servers and database upgrade will both be lengthy processes. We will update this Service Note when the system is available.

We appreciate your patience as we work to keep this critical system up-to-date.

Starting at 9:00 PM tonight, ITS will be performing maintenance and upgrades.  This maintenance will be done in steps, and will only affect portions of the network at any given moment, but the network as a whole will be affected throughout the process.  The maintenance will continue through the early morning hours, and should be done by start of business tomorrow.  An update will be posted when the maintenance has completed.  We apologize for any inconveneince, and thank you for your patience.

All Blackboard services should now be available.

We have encountered some issues with the Blackboard upgrade so we are postponing it until early next week. More information on the timing will be available later today once we have a solution to our issues and have a new upgrade plan.

Blackboard Upgrade:

We are currently working on an upgrade to the Blackboard Learn course management system to be completed during winter break. Updates include primary core infrastructure upgrades including migration to new servers and upgrading the database. These upgrades are critical in order to keep our Blackboard Learn system operating in a supported environment and we hope to gain enhanced performance with the new environment.

Blackboard Upgrade Plan

The upgrade will begin with the normal 4am shutdown of the system for backups on Thursday, January 2nd. Campus should plan for the Blackboard system to be unavailable for the whole day. The migration of servers and database upgrade will both be lengthy processes. We will update the Service Note when the system is available.

We appreciate your patience as we work to keep this critical system up-to-date.

12/31/2019

The database server migration completed around 11:00pm. Most services have been restored. If you run into any problems, please contact the Helpdesk.

At approximately 5:00 PM tonight, ITS will be migrating the main SQL server.  During the time of migration of The SQL Database Server,  many websites will be affected by this process including the main Truman website, TruView, and many internal tools. The process could take between 4 hours to all night. All services should be restored after the process.

At approximately 9:00 PM tonight, ITS will be performing maintenance test on the sql server which will cause about 15-20 minutes down time on many Truman internal online tools; www.truman.edu and Truview factionality will also be affected.

*UPDATE* - As of 7:10 PM tonight, the IIS Web Server is back online.  The Truman websites are accessible again, and all maintenance has been completed.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

 

At approximately 6:30 PM tonight, ITS will be performing maintenance on the web server that hosts the Truman.edu websites.  This maintenance should only take 30 minutes to 1 hour, and should be back up by 7:00 PM. During this time, all Truman websites may be unavailable.  Once the maintenance is done, all Truman websites should be accssible again.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

All Truman WordPress sites will be updated at approximately 8:00 p.m. during tonight's maintenance window. Any downtime should be brief. This includes all personal and organization sites using WordPress, blogs.truman.edu, wp-internal.truman.edu, tmn.truman.edu, and www.truman.edu.

12/17/2019

The SQL Database Server had issues starting at approximately 11:45 am on 12/17/2019 and had to be restarted. Many websites were affected by this outage including the main Truman website, TruView, and many internal tools. All services should be restored around 11:55am.

12/14/2019

At apprimately 12:45 PM on Saturday Dec. 14th, 2019, Truman's main fileserver was inaccessible for some users.  ITS was made aware of the issue, and at approximately 2:30, the fileserver was back online and accessible.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.

Banner and all the anner links in TruView are now available. Most integrated services are available as well. We are still working on DegreeWorks and hope to have it available again shortly. If we continue to have issues with DegreeWorks we will update this list.

Clean Address is still down. We hope to get it back up later today.

***UPDATE*** - This maintenance is now complete.

Our phone provider will be completing some necessary phone equipment replacements this coming Monday 11/25/19 around 9:45am. This will effect a small portion of users and should take less than 30 mins. None of the Polycom phones or emergency lines should be affected.

All Truman WordPress sites will be updated at approximately 8:00 p.m. during tonight's maintenance window. Any downtime should be brief. This includes all personal and organization sites using WordPress, blogs.truman.edu, wp-internal.truman.edu, tmn.truman.edu, and www.truman.edu.

11/27/2019

***UPDATE*** - These upgrades have been completed. The maintenance time scheduled for tonight is no longer be needed. 

We will be performing network upgrades on Monday 11/25/19 and Tuesday 11/26/19 beginning at 5:15pm in Magruder Hall. Network connections will be down intermittently in several areas of the building during this maintenance. This will affect wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as Polycom phone connections (VOIP). This maintenace is expected to last around four hours each night.

***UPDATE*** -  This maintenance is now complete

We will be performing network maintenance on Thursday (10/31/19) beginning at 9:30pm in Violette Hall. Wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as VOIP (Polycom) phone service will be unavailable in the South half of the building during this time. More specifically, this will impact rooms 1300-1436 on the first floor and 2300-2468 on the second floor. Estimated completion time for this maintenance is three hours.

***UPDATE*** - The repairs have been completed.

The south side of Ryle Hall is currently without internet service due to a powering issue. This problem is currently being repaired and an update will be sent out once it is complete.

The Banner upgrade is complete. All Banner services are now available.

Banner Upgrade

The Banner system is scheduled for a major upgrade this Sunday, October 13th. Banner and all Banner integrated, dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable starting at 4am Sunday morning, October 13th, and will remain down until the completion of the upgrade. Please plan for Banner services to be unavailable until Sunday evening, October 13th.

This Service Note will updated when the Banner system is available following completion of the upgrade.

Note: Blackboard services will not be impacted by the Banner upgrade and will be available as usual.

The University primary internet connection will be undergoing maintenance by our internet service provider on 10/09 from 12:01AM to 6:00AM.  The outage may last just a few seconds but due to the nature of the work the service provider is reserving the entire window and there will be two backup days of 10/10 and 10/11.

Around 11:00am sevice to several Truman services served by main MSSQL server was interrupted by MSSQL failure.  Services have been restored.

From 10:45am to 11:00am sevice to several Truman services (including TruView, Banner, and Word Press) was interrupted by a CAS failure.  Services have been restored.  Users may need to close and reopen any browser sessions that were active during this window.

09/27/2019

***UPDATE*** - This maintenance is now complete. 

We will be performing network maintenance on Thursday (9/26/19) beginning at 10pm in Violette Hall.  Wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as VOIP (Polycom) phone service will be unavailable in the North half of the building during this time. More specifically this will impact rooms 1100-1236 on the first floor and 2100-2200 on the second floor.

We will be performing network maintenance on Thursday (9/12/19) beginning at 8pm in Magruder Hall. The network will be down on the third floor for approximately two hours. This will affect wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as Polycom phone connections (VOIP).

***UPDATE*** - This maintenance is now complete.

We will be performing network maintenance on Thursday (9/5/19) beginning at 8pm in Violette Hall. The network will be down in different portions of the building for approximately two hours. This will affect the majority of wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as Polycom phone connections (VOIP).
