12/09/2020

*UPDATE*  Users are reporting that they are able to once again connect to Truman websites and services from off campus. Issue appears to have been with Sparklight. If you were not able to connect before, please try again.  If you cannot connect, please contact the IT Service Center at 660-785-4544, and they will be able to assist you. We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

 

*UPDATE* It appears that all of the users reporting issues with accessing Truman websites and services off campus are Sparklight (Formerly CableOne) customers.  Once we have more information, we will post an upadte.  Thank you again for your continued patience.

 

ITS was made aware of certain off campus users not being able to access Truman websites and services.  ITS is aware of the issue, and is actively working to resolve it.  An update will be posted once the issue has been resolved.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

***UPDATE*** This maintenance has been completed

ITS will be performing network maintenance in the Health Science Building beginning at 10 pm on Thursday, Dec 3rd. Wired, wireless, and phone connectivity in this building will be affected while the maintenance is carried out. The estimated time of completion is four hours and this post will be updated once the maintenance is complete. This work will also briefly affect Barnett Hall, Pershing Building, General Services, Adair Building, Ryle Hall, Campbell Apartments, Stokes Stadium, and Patterson House.

12/02/2020

Update on 12/4/2020  As of this morning the EMS upgrade is complete. There is an issue with the Desktop installation that requires a manual intervention prior to the installation of the new client. Instructions have been completed and are being distributed and Bill is working with individuals that need assistance.

Update on 12/3/2020 4:55PM After sporadic assistance from the EMS vendor, the web application (EMSpro.truman.edu) for EMS is operational and available for use. The Desktop application is down with a new error. We will continue to work with the vendor on a resolution.

12/2/2020 4:47PM This is an update on the upgrade. We have run into some issues and we are presently working with support. Please plan on EMS being down to continue into Thursday, 12/3/2020. We will provide an update tomorrow once we know more. We appreciate your continued patience as we work to complete this upgrade.

EMS and Virtual EMS to manage and view classroom and departmental room reservations is down for upgrade on 12/2. Please plan for this to be down most of the day. We will work to minimize the downtime as much as possible. An update to this service note will be sent out when the upgrade is complete.

*UPDATE* - The maintenance has been completed, and printing services are online again.  If you have any issues with printing,please reboot your computer. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and nthank you for your patience.

Overnight tonight, ITS will be performing maintenance on the Faculty and Staff Print Server.  This work will be performed starting around 3:00 am, and should be done by 4:30 am 11-13-2020.  There may be an outage associated with this maintenance.  An update will be posted once the maintenance has been completed, and services are online.

*UPDATE*  As of 9:20 am today, printing services for Faculty/Staff have been restored. If you are still experiencing issues, you may need to reboot your computer to re-establish communications with the Faculty/Staff Print Server.  If you are still having iisues after that, please contact the IT Service Center at 660-785-4544.

The Banner upgrade is complete. Services are available.

The Banner system is scheduled for a major upgrade this Sunday, October 18th.  Banner and all Banner integrated, dependent services including the Banner links in TruView will be unavailable starting at 4am Sunday morning, October 18th, and will remain down until the completion of the upgrade. Please plan for Banner services to be unavailable all day.

*UPDATE* The issue has been resolved.  If you are still having issues, please reboot your device and try again.  If you continue having issues, please contact the IT Service Center at 660-785-4544 and have a support ticket created.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

 

At approximately 4:00 pm today, ITS was made aware of an issue with accessing Truman.edu websites from off campus.  Users are reporting that they recieve a "Site not accessible - 500" error when attempting to access Truman.edu, and exchange.truman.edu.  ITS is working to restore access, and will update this Service Note when restored.

Microsoft has now unblocked Truman mail to Hotmail and Outlook.com addresses.

Please use caution in responding to any emails. Truman will not ask you to enter your account and password through a link included in an email. If logging on is necessary, always manually enter a previously known link instead of clicking on one in an email. Never buy giftcards or other items for a co-worker or department head based on an email request unless you have confirmed that the request is legitimate through non-email means. If an offer is given that seems too good to be true, it usually is a scam. Please contact the IT Service Center with any questions at x4544.

There was a Truman user whose account and password was compromised and used by a spammer to send a lot of spam messages. This caused us to be added to a block list that is keeping us from sending mail to Hotmail and Outlook.com addresses.

We have gone through the process to get us delisted. But it may take a few days to get this cleared.

If you have another way to reach your person,  you may want to try it.

*UPDATE* - ITS has identified the root cause of the issue, and are looking at implementing a solution.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

 

ITS have recieved numerous reports of issue with printing from Word or Excel.  When printing from these applications, users are reporting that the application will lock-up, and then close without printing the document.

One potential temporary workaround is try other printers or copiers, and see if there may be one that will allow you to print.  Usually, if one printer will not allow you to print, it will not until this issue is resolved.  But, if one printer or copier does allow you to print, then you should be able to continue using that printer or copier until this issue is resolved.

ITS is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it.  There is currently no Estimated Time to Resolution, and an update will be posted when the issue is resolved.

There will be a brief network outage in Centennial Hall North and the first floor of Campbell Apartments between 6:15 and 7:15 am on 9/11/2020. All services should be restored within 15 minutes of going offline.

Our phone provider will be rebooting one of our phone gateways this evening at 8pm. There are around 48 extensions on this gateway. The unit should be back up within about 10 mins.

***UPDATE*** This issue has been resolved. 

There are around 48 phone numbers, primarily in Barnett Hall, due to a failed power supply on one of our phone gateways. Our provider, Socket, is working on getting us a replacement. They are trying to get one to us today, but it may be tomorrow before this issue is resolved.

*UPDATE* The issue has been resolved for all newly issued cards moving forward, but may still occur for previuosly created ID Cards.  If you have an issue with your Student ID Card, or if you are made aware of a student with an issue with their ID Card and the Pcounter printing system, please have have them go to the IT Service Center on the 2nd floor of the Pickler Memorial Libray, room 203, and they will be able to assist with this issue.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

 

*UPDATE* The issue with the Student ID cards is still ongoing.  ITS is working with the Truman ID Office to resolve this issue.  In the mean-time, please follow the steps outlined in the original Service Note.  An update willbe posted, with any instructions, once the issue has been resolved.  We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you again for your time and patience.

 

ITS was made aware of an issue with new Student IDs not working for using the Student Printing system.  When a student swipes their card to print their document(s), the swipe "beeps", but does not release the print job to the printer.  A workaround for this is for the student to use the Release Station laptops in Pickler Library 1st floor, or Violet Hall 2001.  A student can also go the IT Service Center, located on the 2nd floor of the Pickler Library, room 203, and they will be able to assist with enabling their card to work with the Student Printing system.  ITS is aware of this issue, and is working to resolve it.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

The University secondary internet connection may be unavailble this afternoon from 4:30PM to 6:30PM while our internet service provider performs emergency maintenance. No outage is expected and traffic should re-route via the primary connection.

At approximately 2:50 PM today, ITS was made aware of an unexpected outage with Faculty/Staff printing, affecting the entire campus. ITS quickly identififed the issue and resolution.  Printing services were restored campus-wide at aprroximately 3:00 PM.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

*UPDATE* - Maintenance on the Faculty/Staff email server has been completed.  All Faculty/Staff email services are online and functioning again.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for youer patience and understanding.

 

Email services for all Faculty/Staff members may be down tonight starting at 10:00 PM for necessary maintenance. PHP upgrade on multiple WordPress servers is scheduled tonight starting at 7:30pm. All WordPress websites will be affected.

Tonight at 10:00PM the virtual desktop system will be briefly unavailable for a system upgrade. 

Following the upgrade the view.truman.edu website will have a new look with better browser compatibility and performance. The process for logging into virtual desktops from thin clients on campus will be unchanged.

For personally owned devices that are using the Horizon Client (and not accessing the system from a web browser) individuals should update the client to the latest version for the best performance:

*UPDATE* The upgrade and implementation has been completed.  All services should be working again.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for youe patience.

 

At approximately 10:00 PM tonight, ITS will be performing an upgrade to the Windows Server Update Server, which handles Windows Updates for all of the Truman State University owned devices.  This process will only affect receiving updates, and no other outage is expected.  The process should take approximately (1) hour, and when completed, an update will be posted.  ITS would like to apologzie for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
