01/06/2016 Blackboard services were briefly unavailable. We restarting services and the system is now available. We will research the potential source of the system problems.
12/29/2015 The Blackboard upgrade is complete and all Blackboard services should be available. ------ Blackboard Upgrade December 29th Starting at 8am ITS is scheduled to upgrade the Blackboard Learn course management system during Winter Break.  We will upgrade to the Blackboard 9.1 October 2014 release.  This update brings primarily bug fixes to existing functionality with minimal change to the user experience. In addition we will be installing a new product license which will bring us new features and functionality to be implemented later in 2016.   The upgrade will begin on Tuesday, December 29th, at 8am and is expected to take approximately four hours to complete. An email update will be sent out announcing the upgrade status upon completion. We appreciate your patience as we continue our work to maintain the Blackboard system.

We had a GBIC failure due to water damage from the roof leaking.  This caused one of the two network switches to go offline in the early morning hours.  We have replaced the damaged harware and protected the electronics against anymore water damage.

12/17/2015 UPDATE - All maintance has been completed on the Student Print Server, and all printing services are available again. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.   CORRECTION - During this time, all Student Printing services will notbe unavailable.   At approximately 9:00 PM tonight, ITS will be performing maintenance on the server that handles Student Print Services.  The maintenance is anticipated to take about 1 hour, but may be less. During this time, all Student Printing services will be unavailable.  An update will be posted once Student printing services are available. We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.
12/07/2015 The MS Project problem in the computer labs has been resolved. ---------- Previously:  We are currently experiencing a MS Project software problem in the computer labs.  Services will be restored as soon as possible.
12/07/2015 The SPSS problem in the computer labs has been resolved.  ---------- Previously:  We are currently experiencing SPSS problems in the computer labs.  We have opened a priority 1 incident with SPSS support.  Services will be restored as soon as possible.
12/10/2015 During Thursday's maintenance window we will be migrating one of our web servers to a new instance. Sites affected include: blogs.truman.edu tmn.truman.edu wp-internal.truman.edu sites.truman.edu The change should be instantaneous. After the switch content between the old and new server will need to be resyncronized to make sure all files uploaded prior to the change are migrated. This could take up to two hours. During this period if you have a file that is not showing up please wait to upload the file again. It should appear after the syncronization.
11/12/2015 Tonight at 9:00PM, during the regularly scheduled ITS Maintenance Window, the wireless network will be momentarily unavailable. The expected duration of this outage is less then one minute.  Also during this time the virtual desktop system will be undergoing a hardware check. No outage or degredation to this service is expected at this time. 
11/06/2015 Service has been restored as of 5:30 PM.  
11/06/2015 The Windows webserver will be restarted at about 10:45 a.m. on 11/6/2015 to try to fix a problem with survey.truman.edu and the new database server.
11/05/2015 The Microsoft SQL Server will be down for maintenance at approximately 10:00 p.m. on 11/5/2015. This is during our schedule maintenance window. The outage may take a few minutes.
11/04/2015 UPDATE: As of 12:20 PM today, all services have been restored.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience. UPDATE:  While DNS and DHCP services are up and running, there may still be some related issues with other services.  ITS is aware and working towards a resolution. __________________________ DNS and DHCP went down at 7:45am and was intermittent or slow to repond until about 8:30am.  During that time we found the root cause and services are fully restored.
10/23/2015 At 9:00 pm tonight, Student Print Services will be offline to resolve a software issue.  The outage should only last (1) hour, and an update will be posted when service has been restored.  We appologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.
10/16/2015 Update: We will be taking Blackboard down at 8:00am on Friday, October 16, 2015, to attempt to resolve our security patch issue. If the correction we are attempting works, the outage should be no longer than approximately 30-45 minutes.
10/15/2015 UPDATE - As of 10:30 am today, all Student Printing Services are back online and functioning.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.   At apporximately 10:00 am today, Student Printing Services will be offline for a brief period of time to correct an issue with printing in the Pickler Library.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.    
10/15/2015 Reminder: A Blackboard security patch needs to be applied and requires a system restart. We will be taking Blackboard down at 8:00am on Thursday, October 15, 2015, for the patch and required restart. The outage should be no longer than approximately 30 minutes provided we have no issues. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

DNS services were unavailable which affected availability of a majority of other services. DNS service was restored at 12:55PM. 

09/17/2015 All Truman WordPress sites will be updated at approximately 9:30 p.m. during tonight's maintenance window. Any downtime should be brief. This includes all personal and organization sites using WordPress, blogs.truman.edu, wp-internal.truman.edu, tmn.truman.edu, and www.truman.edu.

Update: Did not occur due to a full boot partition. Maintenance must be completed on system first.

Jenkins will be down momentarily during Thursday's maintenance window for a software update.

GitLab will be down for approximately 15 minutes during Thursday's maintenance window for it's monthly software update.

OTRS will be updated from 4.0.9 to 4.0.11 during next Sunday's maintenance window, 9/20/2015, at 8:00 AM. The outage is scheduled for 1 hour. 

08/25/2015 SECOND UPDATE: Tonight at 9:00PM, during the regularly scheduled ITS maintenance window, we will restore the second internet connection. This is the connection that originally had issues with connectivity to select sites; Our ISP is reporting these issues should now be resolved.  FIRST UPDATE: There will be a brief internet service outage at 12:15 on 08/25 for the selection of users who are currently experiencing connectivity issues. At this time we will fail over their connection to our fully functioning connection as a temporary work around. ORIGINAL SERVICE NOTE: A selection of websites and internet services are unavailable via a campus wired network connection. We are working with our Internet Service Provider to resolve the issue. As a work around, connecting via a wireless connection will currently solve the issue.  We'll provide an update when one is available.

Update:

The web server process on OTRS's application server has been restarted and services restored.

 

The OTRS has been reported as down. We are working to resolve the issue.

08/20/2015 During tonight's maintenance window at 9:00 PM all WordPress web sites (except for www.truman.edu) will be unavailable breifly during a software update.

Blackboard services failed at approximately 5:00am this morning. Services were restarted and available by 7:50am. We are reseaching the failure and believe we have tracked down the issue to a configure problem. We in the process of taking corrective actions so we have no future failures of this kind.
