IT Service Center Customer Representative

Position Description: To be an IT Customer Representative for Truman State University users. Handling IT related phone calls, walk-in support for all IT related issues and requests including TruView, Brightspace, Network, Wireless, Printing, Network Accounts, Hardware/Software, Classroom Technology, Banner, Email, Password Resets, etc.

Hours of Operation and Location:

  • Fall and Spring Semester: Monday thru Thursday 7:30am to 8:00pm; Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm; Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Breaks and Interim: Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Summer: Monday thru Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Pickler Memorial Library (PL203) ph. 660-785-4544

Duties Assigned: These Include but not limited to: Answering phones for both Truman Operator calls and IT Help Desk; assisting walk-in customers; assisting users with configuring their devices to connect to Truman resources (Wi-Fi, email, printers, network drives, etc.); performing checkout/reserve/op-check functions for laptops and wireless adapters; documenting all technical issues/requests in a ticket tracking system; maintaining PML lab printers and working with paper/toner for lab and residence hall printers.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy – have great customer service skills
  • Able to work within a team – willingness to learn and to train others
  • Need to have at least 1.5 years left at Truman
  • Must work 10-20 hours per week
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must have Microsoft Windows and Macintosh experience
  • Must have great oral and written skills
  • Ability to multi-task, type at least 45+ words per minute

Training: Once a student is hired and cleared for employment, training will be coordinated and scheduled. Due to the amount of services performed, training takes 25-30 hours (or around 3-4 weeks). This is considered paid training and Scholarship/Workstudy can be used depending on if during the semester, Interim, or summer timeframes.
