The Learning Technologies Team is pleased to announce a Fall 2014 Semester lineup of workshops for faculty focused on a variety of teaching with technology topics. These workshops will primarily take place every other Wednesday throughout the Semester at 12:30pm, with an occasional workshop occurring at a different time. Please see the schedule below for a full list of topics, dates, and times! The LTT Team will also be joining Dana Vazzana for her Magna Series Monday Morning Mentor Program. These sessions offer brief 20 minute presentations from faculty all over the United States on a wide variety of topics. Feel free to bring your lunch and join us! There’s plenty of time to watch and still have time for lunch and good conversation. We are also glad to schedule an individual consult following following any topic of special interest. On Tuesday, September 23 at 1:00 pm in SUB Georgian Room A, we will be watching the Magna Online Seminar Getting Started With Classroom Assessment Techniques with Dana Vazzana. On Wednesday, October 1st, at 12:30 (PML103), the Learning Technologies Team will host a workshop on Assessment Techniques you can Employ in Blackboard. Following the Magna Presentation, are you considering your assessment strategies? If so, you might find this workshop particularly helpful. We will be demonstrating ways in which exams and problem sets can be designed to best support student learning and understanding. In this workshop, participants learn more about creating effective problem sets and questions using the Blackboard Tests and Pools functions for a class of their choosing.
On Thursday, October 2nd, at 3:30pm (PML103), the Learning Technologies Team will host a workshop designed specifically for New Faculty on Lecture Capture. This session will include a discussion regarding lecture capture for both face to face and online classes – another resource for professors to increase student participation and foster improved learning. Participants will be given resources and links to several lecture capture options, including Panopto and Screencast-O-Matic.

Whether it’s collaborative group projects or just an easy way to store or share your projects with others, Google Drive has you covered! Learn more about using Google Docs, Presentations, and Calendars – all features found in Google Drive that can enhance your personal and professional life!

This session will include a discussion regarding screen recording for flipped or online classes, another resource for professors to increase student participation and foster improved learning. Participants will be given resources and links to include this recorder within a class.

On Wednesday, November 12th, at 12:30 (PML103), the Learning Technologies Team will host a workshop on Flipped/SCALE-UP Classrooms. This session will include discussion regarding specific strategies that can be implemented for combining technology, group work, and discussion to increase student participation and foster improved learning. Participants will be introduced to the options available on campus.
