Can I
have my software available from all labs and classrooms even though I only
have 20 licenses? I know only 20 students are in the class using it.
It depends! If the software license is for
"concurrent" users and the software has its own built-in metering, then the
answer is probably "yes". However, if the software license is only for
it to be installed on 20 machines, then this option would probably not be
available. Normally, a license must be purchased for each computer
upon which the software is to be installed.
Should I submit a request even if I don't have all of the
information?
Yes. It is beneficial for ITS to know that a
particular software program may need to be included on the image, even if
you don't have all of the information about the product. We may be
able to help you find information regarding the licensing or pricing of the
product.
When is the deadline for submitting a request for software to
be included on the image?
June 30, 2008 is the deadline for submitting a request to
ITS. In order to adequately configure the image and make it available
for testing, we must have the software as soon as possible. June 30th
should give us enough time to adequately install, configure, and test the
software.
When will the 2008-2009 image be installed?
August, 2008, right before the beginning of Truman Week.
This new image will be the software image used in the labs and classrooms
for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Will this change the software for 2008 Summer classes?
No. The current (2007-2008) image will remain until
the new image is installed right before the Fall semester begins.
