Network Design

The Truman network is a Ethernet network that provides 100 Mbps wired network access and 802.11b/g wireless network access. High speed network links connect campus buildings and the Internet. TCP\IP is the network protocol.

The campus data center is located in McClain Hall. The network distribution nodes are McClain Hall and Violette Hall. A high speed backbone connects McClain and Violette. To view a diagram of the Truman network click here.

The Internet connection is a 60 meg link provided by MOREnet. We have a Internet Firewall and a Internet bandwidth management device called a PacketShaper.

We use Cisco networking equipment. Server hardware is either Dell, IBM or Apple. The server operating systems in use are Windows 2003 Server, AIX, Linux and Mac OS X.
