Faculty and Staff may use the procedure below to install EndNote onto their Truman-owned Windows PC while connected to the campus network.
Note: For Windows 7 users, please contact the IT Service Center to request EndNote to be installed. The following directions are for Windows XP users only. Thank you
To install EndNote onto your Truman system, you will need to open the Control Panel by clicking on ‘Start’ and then clicking on ‘Control Panel’ in the menu choices.
Depending on how your system is configured, you should see one of the following screens:
Control Panel automatically expanded
Windows XP Standard
Classic View (as seen in Windows 2000)
Now open ‘Add or Remove Programs’ by clicking on the following Icon shown below:
Control Panel List or Windows XP Standard
When ‘Add or Remove Programs’ opens, click on the ‘Add New Programs’ icon
When ‘Add New Programs’ has opened, you should see a selection for ‘Thomson EndNote’. It may take up to 30 minutes for this selection to appear after the computer has been connected to the Truman network. Click the ‘Add’ button and the install process will begin. NOTE: If you do not have EndNote listed and you have been logged in and connected to the Truman network for more than 30 minutes, please contact the IT Service Center at 785-4544.
During the install process, you should see the following status screens:
Once the installation has completed, you should see the following message. Click on the ‘OK’ button and then proceed to the ‘All Programs’ list by clicking on the ‘Start’ button.
You should notice a caption ‘New programs installed’ after clicking on ‘Start’.
After selecting ‘All Programs’, you should see ‘EndNote’ in the program list.
NOTE: When opening Microsoft Word, you should see an additional toolbar labeled EndNote X.
If you want the EndNote X toolbar to be placed where the other toolbars are located, use your mouse and left click (and keep the button pressed) on the dark blue title bar and drag the toolbar to a location you prefer next to the other tool bars. Note that if Word is your default email editor for Outlook and the EndNote toolbar is enabled, you may notice that the EndNote toolbar appears when you create a new email message. To close the EndNote toolbar, right-click the toolbar and uncheck "EndNote X" by clicking it in the list of toolbars.
